At TANZ eCampus, we know how important it is to help our learners develop knowledge and skills that have practical applications in the workplace. That’s why we work with employers and industry leaders to develop and deliver custom qualifications with specific industries in mind.
Really? Can you give me an example?
Sure! We’ve recently teamed up with the Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA) to adapt our New Zealand Certificate in Business (First Line Management) (Level 4) to suit learners who want to advance their careers within the fisheries industry.
First line management is all about having the confidence and techniques to lead effectively. This programme will help enrolled FFA fisheries officers develop the self-assurance to be great leaders. It will give them the systems and tools to lead, and the motivation to take their careers in management to the next level.
Why has the FFA chosen to adapt TANZ eCampus’ qualification in First Line Management?
The FFA plays an important role in helping its seventeen members manage, control and develop their tuna fisheries. FFA members work in a complex environment and require a specific skill set. The FFA is committed to helping members build these skills, so they’ve teamed up with TANZ eCampus.
TANZ eCampus learning designers are working with subject matter experts to embed industry-specific course content and case studies into the programme. The goal is to create a skilled workforce who can apply their new knowledge and skills within the context of the fisheries industry, and achieve great outcomes for themselves, the FFA, and their members.
While most of the content will be delivered online through the eCampus portal, learners will also attend a workshop led by their course facilitator, an industry expert, to support their learning.
“The course content is very specific to the requirements of the FFA,” says TANZ eCampus Business Development Manager Jo Miles. “This helps learners make instant connections between what they’re learning and how it may be applied within their workplace.”
Through this programme, the FFA are giving their officers an opportunity to gain an industry recognised, NZQA accredited and internationally accepted qualification, leading to a skilled workforce, job fulfilment and career progression.
Can you adapt course content to suit the requirements of other industries?
Absolutely. We can collaborate with organisations in other industries to develop and deliver custom programmes. We’ll be there every step of the way, supporting course development and delivery; enrolment and learner management; academic, pastoral and technical support; and reporting and analytics.
