Contractors rely on securing forward work through bidding for projects through tender submissions. As an estimator, you will learn how to price built-up rates for selected tender trades, and associated costs like wastage and transport.

- Learn how to accurately price trades for a construction project
Learn how to build up unit rates for trades like concrete, cladding, plasterboard, roof and floor coverings. Understand each of the individual components that make up the unit rate, such as labour, cartage and fixings.
- Understand pricing preliminaries
Gain a sound understanding of labour rates and constraints, sourcing material and associated costs, calculating material rates in measured units and interpreting schedules of quantities. You will be able to build up preliminary rates and prepare a priced schedule of quantities for preliminary and general items.

How long will it take?
This course is delivered over 10 weeks. You can expect to spend around 150 hours of total study time for this 15 credit course. So, to complete this course successfully in the 10 weeks you must be prepared to devote approximately 15 hours per week to your study. Depending on your previous academic online experience and course level this may vary.
Please note: The New Zealand Diploma in Construction (Level 6) can only be studied part-time which means that you may only study one course at a time.
