You can get technical with IT
Working in IT requires a technical understanding of computer hardware. The usual answer of “have you tried turning it off and on” will not be your go to any longer! You will be able to apply your newly acquired IT skills in computer hardware and software to fix problems, suggest improvements and set up and install new systems.

How long will it take?
This course is delivered over 10 weeks. NZQA guidelines suggest up to 150 hours of total study time for a 15 credit course. So to complete this course successfully in the 10 weeks you must be prepared to devote approximately 15 hours per week to your study. Depending on your previous academic online experience and course level this may vary to a certain degree.

So that you will be successful, we recommend that you use a working computer other than the one you are using to access this course. The computer you use needs to have at least a 2 GHz processor, at least 4 GB of RAM, at least 160 GB hard disk, an optical DVD or DVD/RW drive, ethernet components, a monitor, cables, power supplies and cords, a keyboard, a mouse, and be able to support / install at least two different operating systems for this assessment.
