You can understand economic theory
Understanding the theory behind economic principles is essential for business success. In a management role you will need to have an understanding of the nature of economics and the methodology used to analyse economic problems. This course will assist with discovery of macroeconomic concepts and models in order to understand the aggregate economy and gain an understanding of the effects of international trade and changes to the global economy in a New Zealand context.

Understand supply and demand
As part of the course, students will be asked to apply the supply and demand model to explain the behaviour of markets as well as analyse a firm’s profit maximising behaviour in different market structures.

How long will it take?
This course is delivered over 19 weeks. NZQA guidelines suggest up to 200 hours of total study time for a 20 credit course. So to complete this course successfully in the 19 weeks you must be prepared to devote approximately 10 hours per week to your study. Depending on your previous academic online experience and course level this may vary to a certain degree.

Important information about this qualification:
- In January 2015, this qualification was replaced with alternative business qualifications. The last date of assessment for this qualification is December 2020. No new students will be able to enrol in this qualification after 31 December 2017. Please speak to a TANZ eCampus advisor if you require clarification or additional information on this qualification.
- The Economic Environment course has a textbook requirement.
