But how do consumers distinguish the best from the rest? That’s where the New Zealand Certified Builders (NZCB) comes in. A professional body set up to protect homeowners from unqualified builders and unethical practices, the membership organisation promotes excellence in building standards.
TANZ eCampus has recently partnered with NZCB to offer its members a way to continue their professional development beyond the tool belt – offering them the ability to earn and learn by studying online.
Jo Miles, Sales & Business Development Manager for TANZ eCampus says building strong relationships with industry is an important step for TANZ eCampus.
“We want to give New Zealander’s a pathway to a new future, we’re creating a new personal approach to learning – connecting knowledge, like minds and industry experts. Linking with organisations, like NZCB, ensures we are directly talking to those learners in the workplace – helping them to grow, learn new skills and work towards higher industry standards.
“As members of NZCB, these builders already know about delivering excellence in the building industry. We want to help them to achieve excellence in the way they lead their teams, how they manage relationships and their project management knowledge. All these skills lead to better outcomes for the homeowner,” says Miles.
TANZ eCampus offers online Project Management, First Line Management and Team Leadership courses and qualifications. These qualifications are often sought-after in the building industry.
Jo Miles says many small business owners benefit from offering their staff formal professional development opportunities.
“What we have found is many of the NZCB members are small business owners. They want to provide their staff with ongoing professional development, but just don’t have the time or resources. Many are busy and can’t afford to have their team off-site for many days attending training courses. Online learning means they can complete their professional development in the evenings, weekends or whenever there are downtimes. It also means they have the option of a short course or a qualification. It is all about flexibility,” says Miles.
